Terms of Use

These Terms of Use apply to New Haven Residents Directory. By using the pages, you agree to them. If you do not accept the terms, do not use the reference or its linked tools.

1. What This Reference Is

New Haven Residents Directory is privately operated. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and directory collections concerning people who live or once lived in New Haven, Connecticut. No government record is hosted here, and the reference is not affiliated with a public office, court, library, or custodian.

2. Lawful Use Rules

Use these pages only for lawful, personal, and responsible purposes. You may not use the reference or anything reached through it to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make an FCRA-regulated decision involving credit, employment, tenant, or insurance eligibility
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the reference content at scale
  • Disrupt the pages, defeat security, or interfere with their operation

3. No Consumer Reporting Agency Status

This reference is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Neither the pages nor a result returned by a linked search tool is a consumer report. Nothing here may be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.

4. Linked Services

Government portals, libraries, courts, archives, and third-party services, including sponsored search tools, operate under their own terms and privacy practices. New Haven Residents Directory does not control their content, availability, prices, or handling of information.

5. No Warranties

The reference is supplied “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. No promise is made that a statement is accurate, complete, current, or fit for a particular purpose, or that a linked portal will work or return a correct result.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of these pages or a linked resource, including a decision based on a record located through them.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the operators from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, that results from your misuse of the reference or breach of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a short attributed excerpt is allowed. Republishing full pages or systematically copying the content is not.

9. Updates

A revised version may be posted here at any time. Continued use after publication of a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

10. Access Restrictions

Access may be blocked or limited for a user who violates these terms, abuses the pages, or threatens their security. This may occur without advance notice.

11. Governing Law

Connecticut law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. The Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, CGS §§1-200 through 1-243, including §§1-210, 1-212, and 1-217, governs public-record access through the official custodian, not through this private reference. Connecticut’s Data Privacy Act, CGS Chapter 743dd, applies to covered businesses and does not turn New Haven or other state and local records into privately controlled data.

12. Severability

If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
